Stelvio National Park lies in the central part of the Alps. The Park is the largest in Italy and covers part of two regions: Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Lombardia, in 24 municipalities. It measures 1250 km2 , 520 km2 of which lie in the South-Tirol region. Its lateral valleys surround the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range.
Stelvio National Park includes very different areas, ranging from the bottom of the valleys to the icy peaks of the mountains (Mt. Ortles, 3.905 m). Stelvio National Park has borders with the Swiss National Park, the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park.
